Web Geek. Husband. Father. Student. Cyclist. Musician.
All of these titles belong to me and I am happy to simultaneously juggle all of these roles on a daily basis. The title you're probably interested in is Web Geek, so here's a quick and dirty list of my credentials.
Experience.
Little Orange Dots (Calgary, Alberta 2006)
- After taking parental leave from Karo Design in the first half of 2006, I decided it was time for me to try running my own business, so I started up Little Orange Dots.
- I am the owner, operator, creative director, lead developer and account manager all in one. the incredible one-man show!
Karo Design (Calgary, Alberta 1998-2005)
- Senior designer and/or developer for numerous website, CD-ROM, Flash and PowerPoint projects—from small stuff to really big stuff and everything in between. Some projects won awards, some didn't but they were all really well done.
- Managed several clients with ongoing site maintenance, which typically included time-sensitive updates with really tight deadlines and no margin for error.
- Worked in many different team environments and collaborative situations - I love that stuff - go team go!
Mosaic Studios (Calgary, Alberta 1997-1998)
- Junior multimedia author, worked primarily on CD-ROM projects using Macromedia Director and various sound and video editing tools.
- My stay at Mosaic was relatively short, but I did complete two CD-ROM's while employed there.
Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (Calgary, Alberta 1997)
- As a fresh SAIT grad, I ended up working for the school over the summer immediately after graduation.
- Summer project entailed creating a prototype for an online course delivery system, part of the Access program. Not sure if this ever got completed.
Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (Calgary, Alberta 1997-1998)
- Web Design Instructor for the New Media Program.
- I taught introductory web site design and development over four semesters.
- Class work included basic theory on how to use Dreamweaver, hand-code HTML, visual design considerations, page "weight", and an introduction to Flash.
Skills and know-how.
Here's a list of stuff I'm pretty darn good at. I'm also good at other things too, like riding my bike.

The other titles.
Other than being a Web Geek, I spend the rest of my time hanging out with my wife and son, working on my Communication Studies degree, riding my bicycle(s) and occasionally playing my drums or my guitar - I like to rock out. |
